area, we also old the best other wines from the region.
Château de Tiregand : One of the prettiest châteaux of Pécharmant, it goes
back to the XII th century and was restaured in the XVII th . This residence is
owned by the St Exupéry familly. the 40 hectar vineyard has an average vine-age
of 21 years old, composed of 50 % Merlot, 28 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 16 % Cabernet
Franc and 6 % Malbec. Since the bad frost of 1956 the vines have been
highered and the density is of 4000 plants per hectar. Its soil is mainly a
combination of sand and small gravel.
Château de la Tilleraie : This vineyard , in the heart of the Pécharmant AOC area, has a soil
particularly rich in sand and périgordin gravel due to the transformation of
the granite from the"Massif Central". The Fauconnier familly produces rich wines
with an ageing potentiel of 5 to 8 years.
Château de Biran : One of the oldest vineyards in Pécharmant. The actuel owner, Mr Best,
Is in charge of 11 hectars that grow in the traditional way without chemical
whiding. The percentage of the different grape-varities is as follows : 40 %
Merlot for softness, 30 % Cabernet Sauvignon for body and bouquet and 30 %
Cabernet Franc for lighter aromas.
Château de la Métairie : In 1972 Guy-Jean Kreusch falls in love with Périgord and settles
himself down in the area. He plants his first vines in 1975. He also buys
Château Puy de Grave, both are now recognized by the profession as being
the "créme de la créme" of Pécharmant. Then he acquires Domaine Krevel and
Château de Fonfrede. All his wines are vinified with the help of profesors from
the Bordeaux wine university so that his most exigeant clients are
satisfied.
Château
Champarel : Owned by the Bouché familly
since 1971, their wines are very often rewarded at the agricoltural fair in
Paris. The wines from Château Champarel are allways well-balanced. The château
is in the heart of the Pécharmant wine area, on south facing hillsides and
planted with old vines. Aged with loving care, in the old traditional way (oak
casks, hand picked harvests), everything is done with
passion.
Château de la
Jaubertie : In the heart of the Bergerac
AOC, The château was built in the XVI th century by the comte d'Arbois. Bought
in 1973 by Mr Ryman, his son has taken over since 1994, the estate (55 hectares)
produces
Bergerac dry white (Sauvignon 40 %, Sémillon 40 %, Muscadelle 20 %), but also
Bergerac red (Cabernet Sauvignon 65 %, Merlot 30 %, Malbec 5
%).
Château Tours des
Gendres : The wines from this estate,
built on what was a Roman villa, have been known of since the XII th
century. The vineyard is owned by The De Conti familly eversince 1981. The
vineyard covers 40 hectares, made up of 50 % Merlot, 40 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 9
% Cabernet Franc and 1 % Malbec for the reds and rosés. For the whites it is 60
% Sémillon and 40 % Sauvignon. Mr De Conti tries as much as possible not to weed
chemicaly nore use fertilisers.

Château de la Colline : This
little vineyard is held by Charles Martin, A british expatriate who was in
charge of Château de la Jaubertie. Young graduate oenologist having been around the
world, from the Napa Vallée to Australia, not forgeting New Zeland and South
Africa, uses all there new technology to make his wines.He also vinifise the
wines from château la Tour Monestier and Clos Monestier.
Domaine des Eyssards : A 40 hectars estate, located on the Saussignac
hillsides. Rich soils and high vine densety allows The Cuisset familly to
produce wines of great complexety. The wines produced at château les Eyssard are
always a good compremise between tradition and new technology : always suprizing
and never deciving.
Château Haut Bernasse : In
1977, Jacques Blais bought this 27.5 hectars vineyard in the the heart of the
prestigius
Monbazillac appelation. Great wine and Cello lover, his personnel aim is to find
excellence. In 1991 , Gault et Millau, a french wine and food magazine, voted Mr
Blais the best wine-maker of the year in a special wine
issue.
Château
Bélingard : This estate was, 3000 years
ago, a celtic village called Belen-Goard (garden of the goods).The vineyard was
panted for the first time during the Xth century by monks, and was a witness of
the 100 years war from the begining at Moncuque to the end at Castillon la
Bataille. The present owner is Laurent de Bosredon who takes care of 90
hectares, 35 in red and 55 in white.He produces bergerac and côtes de Bergerac
red, and Bergerac dry white and Monbazillac.
